Antihistamines: your own personal meth-lab

An interesting post on phawker.com about allergies notes that the same ingredients that go into antihistamines — pseudoephedrine, ephedrine and phenylpropanolamine — go into methamphetamines. You know, “meth”? As in, that awful drug that is so bad and so widespread it doesn’t even make the front page anymore.
In the States, the Combat Methamphetamine Act of 2005 actually requires allergy sufferers to sign for and show id. for such medications.
All of which seems like quite a silly dance, especially if, as phawker.com suggests, allergies are just the body’s immune system malfunctioning because of the things we put into it in the first place.
